The Afro-Carib Festival is where Black History Month meets Reggae Month—an electrifying celebration of Caribbean cultures shaped by a shared African heritage. Presented by the City of Miramar and launched in 2020 as an initiative of Commissioner Alexandra P. Davis, the festival has grown into a signature cultural experience. Today, the tradition continues under the leadership of Commissioner Carson “Eddy” Edwards, who now proudly serves as host of the event.

The Afro-Carib Festival honors the powerful cultural bonds forged through African ancestry—bonds that have given rise to vibrant expressions of music, dance, art, and cuisine across the Caribbean. These shared roots have produced a rich and resilient people whose influence is felt around the world.

Festivalgoers can expect unforgettable live performances spanning reggae, afrobeats, konpa, reggaeton, and more, creating an immersive celebration of rhythm, movement, and sound. Attendees will also enjoy a wide selection of delicious Caribbean and African-inspired food and drinks, alongside a vibrant marketplace featuring vendors selling novelty items, art, and merchandise influenced by African culture.

Our identity as descendants of Africa and the Caribbean is deeply expressed through our music, instruments, and dance—hallmarks of our rich and beautiful heritage. When you hear the lyrics of these artists and feel the pulse of the Afro-reggae–inspired rhythms, the strength and spirit of our people resonate deep within your soul.
