Miramar kicks off Black History Meets Reggae Month with Grammy winner Kabaka Pyramid

The City of Miramar will kick off “Black History Meets Reggae Month,” with a special event presented by Vice Mayor Alexandra P. Davis.

The celebration takes place on Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at the Miramar City Hall Plaza at 2300 Civic Center Place. Reggae Grammy award winner Kabaka Pyramid will make a special appearance at the event.

The kick-off promises a treat for attendees with refreshments, giveaways, exclusive merchandise, and captivating musical performances. Sponsors include GRACE, Kingston Delight, Riddims Marketing, Cleveland’s Ice Cream, Chef TG’s Kitchen, and Larry’s Peppa Shrimp.

“Black History Meets Reggae Month” is not just an event; it’s an unveiling of three exciting initiatives that will set the tone for the entire month:

The Reggae Icon Awards: Recognizing individuals who’ve left an indelible mark on the world of Reggae music, shaping global culture in the process.

Selecta Showdown: Prepare for an adrenaline-pumping competition showcasing the talents of local DJs, providing them a stage to shine.

Afro-Carib Festival: Immerse yourself in a vibrant celebration of the rich and diverse cultures of the African and Caribbean diaspora. Picture an array of food, music, and art paying homage to our shared heritage.

Grammy Award winner Kabaka Pyramid will also be a featured artist at the Afro-Carib Festival.
